What's on the list
- Deregister from your current country's population register before leaving
- Register in the new country within the required timeframe (varies by country — typically 1-2 weeks)
- Get a new personnummer/CPR/henkilötunnus in the new country
- Notify your current country's tax authority of the move — tax residency changes from the date of deregistration
- Transfer pension savings if applicable — Nordic pension portability rules apply
- Register with a new GP/health centre in the new country
- Update all Nordic digital IDs — BankID/MitID/Finnish Bank ID are country-specific and do not transfer
- Notify any Nordic benefits authorities of the move — child allowance, housing benefit etc. must be re-applied for
